Refectory Table Workshop:

Creative Business Day & Getting Published

Creative Business Day at The Water Tower, 10 – 4pm, 18th June

We had such a brilliant time in March that we’ve invited Janet & Pete of The Refectory Table back to the Water Tower on the 18th June to run their Creative Business Day for artists, makers and creatives again.

The day’s designed to help you identify and develop key aspects of your creative business and is suitable for people at all career stages. It’ll work for you whether you've just started out or are a more mature practitioner.

So, what should you expect? The Refectory Table run relaxing and friendly courses, you’ll feel supported and get great input while you think about your own creative path.

Pete Mosley will explore the key characteristics and behaviours that underpin successful creative businesses with you, and then look at how you can apply that and be more successful and do what you enjoy most.

The day covers 5 main areas:

The Creative Business Mindset: The attributes and behaviours of successful creative businesses - presentation followed by discussion.

Products and Customers: Pete will introduce a powerful diagnostic tool that will help you think laterally about new ideas and products to develop, new clients & customers to work with.

Internet Marketing: How to use the Internet and social media effectively without spending your whole life online.

How to write and talk about your work: Getting the message right for your marketing, social media and blogging.

Marketing Swap shop: An interactive session that explores which techniques work best and why.

You’ll leave having had a relaxing and productive day, with a much clearer idea of where you are heading, a personal action plan with clear goals and milestones, and a visual timeline.

Getting Published - a step-by-step guide to publishing books and eBooks.

10 – 4pm, 9th July

They say everyone has at least one book inside them – have you? We’ve invited The Refectory Table to run ‘Getting Published’ - a well-proven course that has already resulted in people getting into print.

Pete Mosley, a published author, will lead you through the day. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a coach, a blogger, a storyteller or an ideas person wanting to create profitable ‘How To’ manuals – Pete will explain exactly how to self-publish your ideas and get them onto Amazon Kindle or traditional book format.

The Refectory Table run relaxing and friendly courses for small groups, you’ll feel supported and get great input while you think about your path to publication.

Course Outline

Getting Published will show you, step by step, how to take an idea, develop it into a manuscript, and then publish your book on Kindle (astonishingly easy) and then as a print book (not quite so easy).

This course is for anyone who wants to write a book (fiction or non-fiction), and get it published.

This course is about:

• Identifying what you can do yourself, and what you will need help with.

• Looking at the various routes you can take – DIY and traditional.

• Exploring the pros and cons of both electronic and print publishing.

• Marketing and selling your book – via Amazon, on your own website, using social media, and through affiliate programmes.

• Simple techniques you can use to kick-start sales.

• How to use your new book to establish credibility and boost your profile.

Pete will illustrate each step with plenty of time for you to explore ideas and ask questions. Every writer needs to establish their own preferred route to publication and fully understand the tools, techniques and resources they will need. This course will help you plan your route.

Pete's experience of working with creative practitioners, coaches and lifestyle professionals, writing and blogging for websites and magazines, of publishing a successful book online and in print, and helping others to do so, puts him in a strong position to deliver this course.

You will come away with a great deal of clarity about what it is you need to do and how to do it.

The Water Tower provides a relaxed and informal learning environment in a quiet and beautiful part of the county – read this blog about a previous course at The Water Tower.

What people say about The Refectory Table courses:

This course with Pete Mosley is an incredibly friendly, informal and personal introduction to the logistics of getting a book self-published by someone with personal experience of the subject. It certainly helped me realise that getting a book published wasn't as daunting as I previously imagined and was a helpful catalyst to me in getting the wheels finally in motion.

Geoff Watts, Change & Leadership Coach

This is a really valuable day if you are considering writing a book in the near or distant future.

Pipa Gordon, TV Presenter

Go – it’s well worth it.

Estelle Read, Coach

The day gave insight into how I can promote my business. It gave me the confidence to tell people about what I do and myself.
